Freelance Music Coordinator

  • The Music Coordinator will:

    • Coordinate participant bands and rehearsal arrangements.

    • Support songwriting, rehearsal and performance preparation.

    • Keep track of instruments, equipment and programme resources.

    • Book and coordinate bands for showcase events.

    • Liaise with venues and help oversee live showcases.

    • Create simple promotional materials for events.

    • Work closely with the GRG Director around staffing, contracts, expenditure and programme planning.

    • Contribute to programme monitoring and evaluation.

    The Coordinator will not be expected to deliver every element of music support alone. A separate Band Mentor will work alongside them during relevant Band Sessions.

  • We’d love to hear from someone who:

    • Has experience as a musician, music mentor, facilitator or workshop leader.

    • Is confident working with young people.

    • Has experience supporting bands, rehearsals, workshops or live performance.

    • Is organised and able to coordinate people, schedules and practical logistics.

    • Can take responsibility for sessions and work independently when required.

    • Communicates well with young people, colleagues, freelancers and venues.

    • Shares Girls Rock Glasgow’s commitment to inclusive youth music.

    • Is enthusiastic about creating supportive opportunities for girls and gender-expansive young people.

    Experience coordinating youth music programmes or live events would be particularly useful.

    A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable, as the role may occasionally involve transporting instruments or equipment. However, if you meet the other criteria we still encourage you to apply.

  • The main fixed delivery commitments are:

    • Band Sessions: Saturdays 12pm–5pm, across the programme blocks

    • Bloc+ live events: the first Sunday of each month, 1pm–6pm

    • Planning/admin: approximately two flexible hours per programme week, which can generally be completed remotely

    Applicants should be available for the fixed Saturday and Sunday delivery dates across the contract period.

    The role includes:

    • 93.5 hours Band Session delivery at £42.50/hour

    • 25 hours Bloc+ / live event coordination at £42.50/hour

    • 40 hours planning, preparation and administration at £17.42/hour

    Hours will be invoiced monthly and paid within seven days.

Girls Rock Glasgow CIC is looking for a Freelance Music Coordinator to help lead our music programme from October 2026 to April 2027.

This is a hands-on coordination and music mentoring role for someone who enjoys supporting young musicians, organising rehearsals and live events, and helping create welcoming and inclusive music spaces.
